Ray`s Smokehouse BBQ in Augusta

It's January 8, 2016 and Mr. Ray is back open! He was closed for a few months but he's back in the smokehouse. Best pulled pork and ribs in town. Lunch buffet is Friday and Saturday beginning at 12. Check it out if you want the best soul food in town.

Homemade sauce and brisket that falls aparton your fork. Ive had genuine southern barbecue many times but, Rays has to be in my top three. Delicious and authentic with filling plates and great lunch deals.

Ray's has the possibility of being great, but he needs to get over the hump. He is too busy to be a one man operation, but too slow to hire help. The food tastes great, especially the peach cobbler (probably the best in town). Sometimes there is a little too much fat in his pulled pork, that is the only negative thing I can say about his food. He has a great flavored BBQ sauce and the place has a nice atmosphere. I hope Ray can get over that hump and be here for years to come.

Best BBQ spot in Augusta!!!

My new favorite BBQ joint. The place appears worn out, but looks are Very deceiving. Hands down the best brisket and ribs I've had in years. The sides are fantastic as well (glazed sweet potatoes!). Also tried the 'short ribs' (AKA burnt ends) and so much flavor (little dry, but flavor made up for it). Desserts are creative and not overly sweet. The best part: great prices.

We ate here for lunch. It was ok. The pulled pork was good, but the sides were just ok. I did not like that you have to pay $1 for tap water! You receive a moderate amount of food for your money. For $8 you can get pulled pork, two sides, and bread or corn muffin. They did not have corn muffins when we were there which was a bummer. The hash was good, but could have had more flavor, green beans were ok, mac and cheese was pretty good, but serving size was small, baked beans were good, but spicy, potato salad was ok and more like egg salad. Overall food was okay/good, I did not like paying for water, and the person at the counter could be a little more outgoing and friendly.

This is some good ish, I have lived here in Augusta for 10+ years and this is by far the best bbq I have had hands down. Better than Perry Pig, and BigDaddys.. #FACTS

Great deal and a good pork sandwich

Not worth the wait. we waited for at least 45 minutes to get our food sbd wr were the only ones there. The portions were small and the food was not that good at all. The place was clean however, a typical small own restaurant they did not have anything you asked for...can I have yams? we are out. Can I have collards, we are out. Sad way to run a business.

Had ribs, pulled pork, & chicken, everything was delicious. They were out of brisket so we will be back to try that soon. Sides were very good loved the green beans and fried okra, only disappointment was that the Mac and cheese was a bit dry.

A must stop in Augusta. Prepare for a wait, but well worth it. Tasted the pork, chicken, and ribs. Everyone at the table was raving how delicious their food was.

Food was dry

Quick service, friendly employees, and amazing food. I had the brisket plate with 2 sides, it was only 8.50! Tender brisket, mac and cheese, a giant piece of buttery Texas toast and a nice crisp slaw that wasn't too sweet. I'll definitely be back.

We came in from FL to visit family and arranged a last minute event. Ray and his team were fantastic! The food was all fresh, homemade and tasted phenomenal! The best BBQ we had in a long time. I highly recommend this resturant for catering to include family, work, and other events.

Really like the food there there is usually a five to ten minute wait but other than that I think you'll be satisfied.

Some damn good Barbeque pulled pork sandwiches, very tasteful homemade sauce and they all around care about there customers

First time today.. it seems its a family business. We need more like these. Great home cooked foods and polite service. I finally found a place that brings me wholesome meals.. thank you Ray!! I will be eating here Thursdays-Saturdays.

was on a business trip and stopped to eat at Ray's. Ray is a really nice guy and the ribs and pork were really good. I had collards as a side and they were excellent. definitely worth a stop.

The food is great,gooood mac and cheese, ribs,potato salad,hash and that bread pudding.hmmm good open on Friday and Saturday. Best Barbecue.

Great BBQ! We tried the ribs, briquet and pork. They were all fantastic, but make sure you get the fried okra!

I tried this place for the first time today. It was great! I had ribs, hash and rice, and potato salad. Good portions, good price, and taste great! I'll be back!

Went today around 4 and they were closed although the hours online states that they were open. Very disappointing.

Grant this is great BBQ. On the other hand. No one is a mind reader as to when this business is open to n is not open. Normal businesses hour there hours posted in plain view site. Not this one. Oh keep in mind Woody's bbq just opened on North leg n wrightaboro Rd. And seems to be doing very well. Will be taken my business there. With even a larger selection on there menu. One lost customer.

It is the only BBQ in Norman Ok to eat. Fabulous food, service and employees. We eat there at least once or twice a month

Stopped here for lunch and had a great meal. The BBQ tasted excellent and was very moist. The prices were great too. If I am ever in the area again, I will make sure to stop by here.

I've been all over the U.S , and lived abroad in 2 foreign countries!. Ray's bbq is the best I've ever tasted hands down! If you want seasoned bbq that is tasty with or without bbq sauce, find your way to Rays!!!!!!😀😬

The young man behind the counter is very polite. Rib tips are what I like .Beans suck are caned lol and not even Bush's lol for a few more penny's you can get better than pork "n" beans I'm just saying.
